The Society aims to plan collaborative projects requiring larger numbers than possible at one centre.
Individuals may also seek to involve other centres within the group to increase numbers for projects already in progress or may choose to run studies at their own centre but seek criticism and suggestions from Council or the Society.
Projects may be suggested by discussions arising from working groups.
There will be collaborations with other bodies involved with research into heart valve disease, including the Cardiovascular Clinical Study Group and the NIHR.
The Lead for Research is Dr Bernard Prendergast and the research committee consists of Professor John Chambers, Dr Gerry McCann, Dr Phil McCarthy, Mr Neil Moat, Mr Prakash Punjabi, and Professor Simon Ray.
